When Your Body Is Trying to Tell You Something
💛 Reflection #4
There are times when your body is responding…
even when nothing around you seems wrong.
You may notice:
tension
tightness
a sense of urgency
difficulty settling
or changes in how your body feels or functions.
It can be confusing.
Because your mind may say:
Everything is fine.
Nothing is happening.
There’s no reason to feel this way.
And yet…
your body may be telling a different story.
I’ve been learning that the body isn’t necessarily reacting randomly.
Sometimes it is responding from what it has learned.
Our nervous system is constantly taking in information—not just from what is happening right now, but from what has happened before.
And quietly, it is asking:
Am I safe enough right now?
When the answer feels like yes, the body can begin to settle.
Breathing softens.
Muscles relax.
There is more openness.
But when something feels uncertain—even subtly—the system may shift.
Not dramatically.
Just enough to keep us slightly “on.”
And sometimes that can show up in the body as tension, restlessness, or even changes in digestion.
I’ve been learning not to immediately treat these things as problems to fix.
Instead, I can become curious.
I can notice.
I can listen.
This is my body responding.
And sometimes, simply being present with what is happening begins to change the experience.
Not because I fixed anything.
But because I am finally listening.
💛 A gentle return
When you notice yourself trying to fix, understand, or change what you are feeling…
you can pause and simply acknowledge:
Something is happening right now.
I don’t have to solve it.
I can stay with myself.
And then gently return:
I can listen without judging.
I can allow this moment to be what it is.
I don’t have to leave myself to make this feeling go away.
And in that…
something begins to soften.
Not because you fixed anything.
But because you stayed.
With yourself.
💛
